Why are black Cable Ties weather resistant?

KT Black Cable Ties are weather resistant due to the UV Stabilized Nylon 6/6 material.

This allows the cable ties to be used in continuous or extended exposure to outdoor sunlight. The nylon cable tie is a weather resistant grade, enduring additional ultraviolet (UV) light.

This grade is produced by incorporating Black Carbon in the nylon resin. UV Stabilized Nylon cable ties are available only in black and have a life expectancy of up to 10 years in direct sunlight.

Black UV Nylon 6/6 Cable Ties

KT Black UV Nylon Cable Ties are available in Light Duty, Medium Duty, Heavy Duty and Extra Long. All black Cable Ties are UV treated and therefore are suitable for use in outdoor environments. All standard cable tie packs are available in packs of 100. Carton sizes vary depending on the size of the cable tie. Sizes from 100mm x 2.5mm Wide up to 370mm x 4.8mm.

1Push Mount Cable Ties

When a hole is drilled, the head of this tie can then be pushed into the hole, leaving the remaining tie to be bundled around cabling or harness. Push Mount Ties are

Releasable ties can be used temporarily and released if need be. The ability for these ties to be re-used makes them quite popular.

What is a Cable Tie?

Cable ties are usually used as fasteners. A ratcheting system allows the ties to be tightened without causing damage to the individual cables or wires. Cable Ties may also be known as ‘Zip Ties’.

Cable Ties are commonly used to harness and bundle items, usually wires. Functioning like straps, cable ties are available in miniature sizes for holding small loads, and are also fabricated in long lengths and strong tensile strengths for large items or bundles. Most Cable Ties feature serrated “teeth” on one end, which function by locking inside the head, located on the other side of the strap.

Once the pointed tip of the cable tie has been pulled through the case and past the ratchet, it is prevented from being pulled back; the resulting loop may only be pulled tighter. This allows several cables to be bound together into a cable tree. Cable Ties can be customised in numerous colors or dimensions, according to application requirements. Additionally, cable ties may be UV-protected or manufactured using 304 & 316 Stainless Steel.

How are Cable Ties Applied?

Cable Ties can be applied by hand, or by using a Cable Tie Gun, depending on what the Cable Tie is being used for. A Cable Tie Gun is a tensioning device or tool that is used to apply a cable tie with a specific degree of tension. The tool may cut off the excess Cable Tie with the head in order to avoid a sharp edge which might otherwise cause injury. Some applications require that a Cable Tie Gun is used, due to requiring a specific tension to meet specific standards and requirements.

What are Snap Bushings Used for?

What are Snap Bushings and what Applications are they used for?

Snap Bushings provide a quick, simple and low cost means of protecting cables, hoses, ropes etc, from damage from raw edged holes. They are commonly used in applications where wire and cable can be exposed to sharp metal edges and rubbing. Adding Snap bushings to your metal compartments help eliminate abrasion and protect the wire and harness from abrasion and cutting. KT snap bushings are made of Snap Bushings are manufactured using black UL approved Nylon6/6 and feature a flammability rating of 94V-2.

Snap bushings are as easy as they sound; once you have your hole cut, you simply snap the bushing into place.

What is the Difference between an Open Snap Bushing and a Closed Snap Bushing?

An Open Snap Bushing (as displayed in the below photo) has an open end at both ends to pass cable through a surface such as a wall. This protects the cable from raw or sharp edges.

A Closed Snap Bushing has one surface Sealed and is used to seal a hole neatly (as per photo below) This prevents anything being passed through the hole. The Snap Bushing can be easily pushed into place using pressure of your fingers. This may be a temporary seal and can be removed easily if required.

What are Cable Glands?

Cable glands are used to firmly secure electrical cable entering a piece of equipment, and provide a seal between the external and internal surfaces of the equipment. Cable Glands are designed to protect cable as it passes through walls, cabinets, or switchboards. Unlike grommets, Cable Glands tighten around the wire to act as a seal.

What IP Rating is Specified for KT Nylon and Metal Cable Glands?

KT Nylon Cable Glands are tested and certified to IP68 in accordance with AS1939-1990. KT Metal Cable Glands and are tested and certified to IP68 in accordance with AS1939-1990. All KT Glands include a Lock Nut.

What is an IP Rating?

The IP Code, International Protection Marking, sometimes misinterpreted as Ingress Protection Marking, classifies and rates the degree of protection provided against the intrusion (including body parts such as hands and fingers), dust, accidental contact, and water by mechanical casings and electrical enclosures. It is published by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). The standard aims to provide users more detailed information than vague marketing terms such as waterproof. However, no edition of the standard is openly published for unlicensed readers. The digits (characteristic numerals) indicate conformity with the conditions summarized in the tables below. What is a Cable Tie?

Cable ties are usually used as fasteners. A ratcheting system allows the ties to be tightened without causing damage to the individual cables or wires. Cable Ties may also be known as ‘Zip Ties’.

Cable Ties are commonly used to harness and bundle items, usually wires. Functioning like straps, cable ties are available in miniature sizes for holding small loads, and are also fabricated in long lengths and strong tensile strengths for large items or bundles. Most Cable Ties feature serrated “teeth” on one end, which function by locking inside the head, located on the other side of the strap.

Once the pointed tip of the cable tie has been pulled through the case and past the ratchet, it is prevented from being pulled back; the resulting loop may only be pulled tighter. This allows several cables to be bound together into a cable tree. Cable Ties can be customised in numerous colors or dimensions, according to application requirements. Additionally, cable ties may be UV-protected or manufactured using 304 & 316 Stainless Steel.

Black UV Nylon 6/6 Cable Ties

UV Stabilized Nylon 6/6 is used in continuous or extended exposure to outdoor sunlight. The nylon cable tie is a weather resistant grade, enduring additional ultraviolet (UV) light. This grade is produced by incorporating Black Carbon in the nylon resin. UV Stabilized Nylon cable ties are available only in black and have a life expectancy of up to 10 years in direct sunlight.

KT Black UV Nylon Cable Ties are available in Light Duty, Medium Duty, Heavy Duty and Extra Long. All black Cable Ties are UV treated and therefore are suitable for use in outdoor environments. All standard cable tie packs are available in packs of 100. Carton sizes vary depending on the size of the cable tie. Sizes from 100mm x 2.5mm Wide up to 370mm x 4.8mm.

Natural Nylon 6/6 Cable Ties (Also known as White or Clear Cable Ties)

Natural ( Clear ) nylon 6/6 Cable Ties are suitable for use in all indoor applications. Life expectancy in direct sunlight of 12 months. Can handle a continuous temperature up to 65.5°C. Nylon 6/6, is the grade used by KT for Cable Tie production and meets UL 94V-2 flamability ratings. Has a working temperature range of 4.4°C to 85°C. Natural Cable Ties are NOT UV resistant. We do recommend using Black UV Treated Cable Ties for outdoor applications.

Natural Cable Ties are available in Light Duty, Medium Duty, Heavy Duty and Extra Long. Pack sizes available include: Packs of 25 and Packs of 100.

304 Stainless Steel Cable Ties

High grade 304 grade stainless steel is generally designed for use in harsh environments. Type 304 is an all-purpose austenitic, low carbon 18-8 chromium-nickel stainless steel. It has good
corrosion resistance and weld ability. Type 304 is the most widely used stainless steel. It is found in chemical and food processing equipment, hospital and paper mill equipment, heat exchanges, etc. Stainless Steel cable ties are available in Standard Duty and Heavy Duty and are available in packs of 100. Carton sizes vary depending on the size of the cable tie.

316 Stainless Steel Cable Ties

High grade 316 grade stainless steel is generally designed for use in harsh environments.Type 316 is an austenitic chromium-nickel stainless and heat resisting steel with superior corrosion resistance. It is extensively used in marine atmospheres and environments where it is subjected to various chemicals, salts, acids, and high temperatures which commonly cause corrosion.

Type 316 has superior creep strengths at elevated temperatures.

Hook & Loop Cable Ties (Velcro)

Re-useable Hook and Loop Ties are made from Velcro and are suitable for tidying up loose cables etc. The ability to re-use these ties makes them very convenient.
