Replacing old, rusty tow balls is a simple process.

How to Install a Tow Ball to your Vehicle:

Fitting a Tow Ball to your vehicle is relatively simple process as long as you have the correct ball size for your receiver hitch. The receiver hitch is made up of several parts: a ball on top, a long, cylindrical threaded shaft, the lock washer, and the nut, which keeps the ball secured on the receiver’s ball mount.

1. First, insert the shaft into the receiver hole so the trailer ball is facing upward.

2. Place the lock washer and the nut onto the bottom of the shaft, and then move them up all the way so that they touch the ball mount. Now, screw the nut on very tightly, and keep the ball on top from moving around too much. One way to do this is to grip the ball with a pipe wrench or a large set of pliers.

 

3. Use another wrench to tighten the nut on the bottom until it’s locked in place. Every time you tow, make sure the nut and washer are securely fastened.

There are many different types of switch balls. Sometimes Tow Balls have locking pins or grooves inserted into the shank that allow you to unlock the ball from the rest of the unit. Remember, it’s very important to install the ball properly, and to have one that’s the right size. That little metal ball bears the weight of your 10,000 pound boat, so it’s not something to mess around with!

Secure Tow Ball using washer and nut by hand, then tighten using a torque wrench.

This is generally because trailer lighting requires specific size housings which limits design techniques and the passing of ECE and ADR, further restricting what can be achieved.

Working within this framework, the strategy became about re-creating the light source itself, not the housing or the lens. The KT team then set about designing an all new Light emitting Diode, that, although all looking the same, can be changed internally to create different angles of light. This allowed us to step away from the use of lens optics and reflectors to direct the light.

The results in light output can be seen below, with the KT lamps delivering the most incredibly even light output.

The performance gains of this technology ensures that the lamps pass ECE and ADR with ease, they are more noticeable from all angles on the road, making them safer.

Another safety benefit is the use of clear lenses and housings, as the transition from clear to red or amber is so dramatic, the attention these lamps demand from road users is far greater than that of traditional lamps, further increasing road safety.

World First KT Intelligent 8000V Surge Protected Jumper Leads with 12 & 24V Voltage Display

12 & 24V Voltage Display

The KT Intelligent Jumper Leads with a 12 & 24V Voltage Display have changed the way people think about Jumper Leads and how they are used.

The 12V & 24V LCD Voltage Display will immediately provide the exact voltage reading of the battery when connected. The Voltage reading will flash to indicate the battery condition.

These particular jumper leads have been designed and tested to perform 25 Cranking Amps, at 10 second intervals.

For standard vehicles, 4×4’s, boats or anything running 12 Volt Systems, below 11.8V is considered a flat battery and requires charging while 14.2V is considered overcharged. The voltage reading will flash to indicate a flat or overcharged battery. When the Voltage reading does not flash this indicates a healthy battery life.

For Trucks or anything running 24 Volt Systems, anything below 23.6V is considered flat (requires charging) and anything above 28.4V is considered overcharged.

The 80°C Temperature Sensor (Amber Warning) will only ever appear when the Intelligent Jumper Leads have reached 80°C. In this case, it is recommended to dis-continue the jump start process to eliminate the possibility of damage to yourself or your vehicle. Ensure the Temperature warning light has turned off before continuing the jump start process.

A Green L.E.D Light indicates a correct connection and a Red Light indicates an incorrect connection.
