Working within this framework, the strategy became about re-creating the light source itself, not the housing or the lens. The KT team then set about designing an all new Light emitting Diode, that, although all looking the same, can be changed internally to create different angles of light. This allowed us to step away from the use of lens optics and reflectors to direct the light.

The results in light output can be seen below, with the KT lamps delivering the most incredibly even light output.

The performance gains of this technology ensures that the lamps pass ECE and ADR with ease, they are more noticeable from all angles on the road, making them safer.

Another safety benefit is the use of clear lenses and housings, as the transition from clear to red or amber is so dramatic, the attention these lamps demand from road users is far greater than that of traditional lamps, further increasing road safety.

What are Snap Bushings Used for?

What are Snap Bushings and what Applications are they used for?

Snap Bushings provide a quick, simple and low cost means of protecting cables, hoses, ropes etc, from damage from raw edged holes. They are commonly used in applications where wire and cable can be exposed to sharp metal edges and rubbing. Adding Snap bushings to your metal compartments help eliminate abrasion and protect the wire and harness from abrasion and cutting. KT snap bushings are made of Snap Bushings are manufactured using black UL approved Nylon6/6 and feature a flammability rating of 94V-2.

Snap bushings are as easy as they sound; once you have your hole cut, you simply snap the bushing into place.

What is the Difference between an Open Snap Bushing and a Closed Snap Bushing?

An Open Snap Bushing (as displayed in the below photo) has an open end at both ends to pass cable through a surface such as a wall. This protects the cable from raw or sharp edges.

KT Cable Accessories Snap Bushings use quality
UL approved 6/6 nylon. Flammability rating of 94V-2. Snap Bushings are designed to protect from sharp edges where you may be running cable and hoses through metal objects.

A Closed Snap Bushing has one surface Sealed and is used to seal a hole neatly (as per photo below) This prevents anything being passed through the hole. The Snap Bushing can be easily pushed into place using pressure of your fingers. This may be a temporary seal and can be removed easily if required.

Once side of the Closed Snap Bushing is Sealed to seal off holes.

7 Pin Trailer Adaptors, Car Coil Adaptors & Car Coil Extension Leads

Trailer Adaptors may be used to easily mate trailers and vehicles with different end Plugs or Sockets. This prevents the need to re-install another Plug or Socket to Match. For Example: If you are running a 7 Pin Flat Trailer Socket from your Vehicle and a Small Round Trailer Plug on your Trailer, you would require a 7 Pin Flat Trailer Plug to a 7 Pin Small Round Trailer Socket Adaptor to complete your connection.

What are the Benefits of using a Trailer Adaptor?

Using a Trailer Adaptor entails many benefits. Not only does it prevent the user having to re-install a trailer Plug or Socket to match (if they have a miss-matching Plug on the Car to what is installed on the Trailer), but also provides extra length between the Car and Trailer connections, making it popular in the caravan and 4WD markets.

The innovative ideas from KT continue in the release of the first ever Car Coil Adaptor. In the past, problems of cable strain on towed vehicles can pull out the Adaptor and similarly should the lead be to long then the cable can drag . The KT Car Coil Adaptor features a 1 meter of coiled cable allowing flexibility and prevents Adaptors being pulled out of sockets.

About the In-Built LED Circuit Tester:

Switch to turn ‘On’ LED Circuit Tester.

The Inbuilt circuit tester was introduced to the Trailer Plugs, Sockets and Adaptors to ensure a ‘Safer Towing’ environment and spread awareness of trailer light circuit failures for all road users by providing products suitable for a wide range of markets.

Incorporating the LED Trailer Plug which features an in-built LED Circuit Tester was a great KT innovation. The In-built LED Circuit Tester enables the user to check that there is power to each wiring circuit and detects any wiring faults, loose connections and corroded pins caused by general ‘wear and tear’. The LED Trailer Plug features 6 LED’s. When the Plug is switched ‘On’ these LED’s illuminate to indicate a secure power connection. If any of the LED’s are not illuminated, this indicates a faulty connection.

Inbuilt LED Circuit Tester helps indicate faulty circuits. It can test Left & Right Indicators, Brake (Stop) Lights, Park Lights, Reverse/Auxilliary and Service Brake Circuits to Ensure Power is running through to each circuit.

How to use the In-Built Circuit Tester on any KT LED Adaptor:

Connect the adaptor to the vehicle socket and the trailer plug. The inbuilt tester will check that the electrical circuit for the Indicators, Park Lights, Brake Lights, Service Brakes and Auxiliary by pressing down the switch. Providing that the tested circuit has power from the application then an LED light will illuminate to verify that power is passing through the connector.

If any LED’s fail to illuminate the tester will assist in determining where the fault is located. If no LED’s illuminate then check the earth connections at the vehicle trailer socket. Generally this is a white wire.Should any LED’s in indicators, park or brake fail to operate then check the relevant connection at the trailer socket on the vehicle.Should a different LED illuminate to the circuit being tested then there will be a cross wired connection at the trailer socket. This can be corrected by fitting the trailer cable to the correct terminal connection in the socket.

Should your vehicle not be wired for auxiliary or service brakes then the 2 relevant LED’s will not illuminate as there will be no power. To turn off the tester simply press button.
The KT LED Trailer Coil Adapter will not detect broken or damaged cable from the plug to the application nor will it detect faulty globes or LED lights.

The LED Car Coil Extensions Range came about after extensive marketing research. It was discovered that many Trailer owners preferred to have a Trailer Socket on their Vehicle and a Trailer Socket on their Trailer at all times. The idea of this was that the Trailer Socket contains a spring-loaded dust-proof cover and by leaving this on the Vehicle and Trailer, the pins would always be protected from dirt and dust entering the socket and always protected from harsh weather conditions.

What are Cable Glands?

Cable glands are used to firmly secure electrical cable entering a piece of equipment, and provide a seal between the external and internal surfaces of the equipment. Cable Glands are designed to protect cable as it passes through walls, cabinets, or switchboards. Unlike grommets, Cable Glands tighten around the wire to act as a seal.

What IP Rating is Specified for KT Nylon and Metal Cable Glands?

KT Nylon Cable Glands are tested and certified to IP68 in accordance with AS1939-1990. KT Metal Cable Glands and are tested and certified to IP68 in accordance with AS1939-1990. All KT Glands include a Lock Nut.

What is an IP Rating?

The IP Code, International Protection Marking, sometimes misinterpreted as Ingress Protection Marking, classifies and rates the degree of protection provided against the intrusion (including body parts such as hands and fingers), dust, accidental contact, and water by mechanical casings and electrical enclosures. It is published by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). The standard aims to provide users more detailed information than vague marketing terms such as waterproof. However, no edition of the standard is openly published for unlicensed readers. The digits (characteristic numerals) indicate conformity with the conditions summarized in the tables below. • KT Metal Cable Glands are manufactured using nickel-plated brass.
• Materials: Brass with nickel plated for A. C. F parts, UL approved Nylon PA66 (Flammability UL 94V-2) for  E part, EPDM rubber for B. D parts. (Accept to make super rubber: resist high temperature rubber, resist  strong acid/alkali,etc).
• Working temperature: -40℃ to 100℃
• Features: The claws and seals of excellent design, can hold cable firmly and have a wider cable range.
• Resistant to salt water, weak acid, alcohol, oil, grease and common solvency.

PVC Electrical Insulation Tape Specifications

KT PVC Electrical Tape (or insulating tape) is a type of pressure-sensitive tape used to insulate electrical wires and cables. PVC Electrical tape has some degree of electrical insulation due to the nature of PVC. KT’s range of PVC Tape is based on polyvinyl chloride film coated with rubber based pressure sensitive adhesive It has a high adhesion, chemical and weather resistance and is suitable use with automotive and marine applications.

It can be applied to a variety of surfaces due to its non-corrosive adhesives which make them unlikely to react with the surface they are in contact with. Low tack protection PVC tapes actually have high tack but have low adhesion which enables them to peel clean from most surfaces and conform to textured surfaces quite well.

What is a Cable Tie?

Cable ties are usually used as fasteners. A ratcheting system allows the ties to be tightened without causing damage to the individual cables or wires. Cable Ties may also be known as ‘Zip Ties’.

Cable Ties are commonly used to harness and bundle items, usually wires. Functioning like straps, cable ties are available in miniature sizes for holding small loads, and are also fabricated in long lengths and strong tensile strengths for large items or bundles. Most Cable Ties feature serrated “teeth” on one end, which function by locking inside the head, located on the other side of the strap.

Once the pointed tip of the cable tie has been pulled through the case and past the ratchet, it is prevented from being pulled back; the resulting loop may only be pulled tighter. This allows several cables to be bound together into a cable tree. Cable Ties can be customised in numerous colors or dimensions, according to application requirements. Additionally, cable ties may be UV-protected or manufactured using 304 & 316 Stainless Steel.

Black UV Nylon 6/6 Cable Ties

UV Stabilized Nylon 6/6 is used in continuous or extended exposure to outdoor sunlight. The nylon cable tie is a weather resistant grade, enduring additional ultraviolet (UV) light. This grade is produced by incorporating Black Carbon in the nylon resin. UV Stabilized Nylon cable ties are available only in black and have a life expectancy of up to 10 years in direct sunlight.

KT Black UV Nylon Cable Ties are available in Light Duty, Medium Duty, Heavy Duty and Extra Long. All black Cable Ties are UV treated and therefore are suitable for use in outdoor environments. All standard cable tie packs are available in packs of 100. Carton sizes vary depending on the size of the cable tie. Sizes from 100mm x 2.5mm Wide up to 370mm x 4.8mm.

Cable Ties are also available in packs of 25. Standard Cable Ties are also available in a specialised 1000 pack including a bonus Promotional Bag.

Natural Nylon 6/6 Cable Ties (Also known as White or Clear Cable Ties)

Natural ( Clear ) nylon 6/6 Cable Ties are suitable for use in all indoor applications. Life expectancy in direct sunlight of 12 months. Can handle a continuous temperature up to 65.5°C. Nylon 6/6, is the grade used by KT for Cable Tie production and meets UL 94V-2 flamability ratings. Has a working temperature range of 4.4°C to 85°C. Natural Cable Ties are NOT UV resistant. We do recommend using Black UV Treated Cable Ties for outdoor applications.

Natural Cable Ties are available in Light Duty, Medium Duty, Heavy Duty and Extra Long. Pack sizes available include: Packs of 25 and Packs of 100.

Coloured Nylon Cable Ties ( Available in Red, Blue, Yellow, Green, Pink, Orange and Purple)

High grade 304 grade stainless steel is generally designed for use in harsh environments. Type 304 is an all-purpose austenitic, low carbon 18-8 chromium-nickel stainless steel. It has good
corrosion resistance and weld ability. Type 304 is the most widely used stainless steel. It is found in chemical and food processing equipment, hospital and paper mill equipment, heat exchanges, etc. Stainless Steel cable ties are available in Standard Duty and Heavy Duty and are available in packs of 100. 316 Stainless Steel Cable Ties

High grade 316 grade stainless steel is generally designed for use in harsh environments.Type 316 is an austenitic chromium-nickel stainless and heat resisting steel with superior corrosion resistance. It is extensively used in marine atmospheres and environments where it is subjected to various chemicals, salts, acids, and high temperatures which commonly cause corrosion.

Type 316 has superior creep strengths at elevated temperatures.
